One of the most important things about a shooter imo is it should be fun to move - see Quake - even COD feels ok but a little slow/clunky. Give it a faster feel, better jumping and none of this weight and I'll be sold, why can't shooters these days feel fun to run and jump around the map. If they really want it to hit the casual market they would probably have to make a brighter universe/environments and less gore. |
I think realism is just an excuse KZ fanboys clung to, because realism doesn't really belong in a sci-fi setting and there's nothing realistic about the movement and physics of Killzone 2 anyway. They patched the **** out of the controls but still never got them quite right. They made them a lot more fluid for KZ3 but not quite enough.
Idk if console gamers will ever be open to the twitch style gameplay of old school PC shooters like Quake. Maybe it's a lack of mouse and keyboard thing, idk.
