I don't think so. The Wii basically used the Gamecube architecture, and EAD Kyoto built an amazing GC engine and were incredibly familiar with it.

Wii U is new tech, so the best is still to come.


First-parties typically make the best use of their company's hardware as they generally have the hardware in possession longer than anyone else, and of course the engineers for the hardware are employed by the same people they are.  That probably doesn't hurt, either. 



The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.
