If not... There's nothing here.   WiiU Party and a bit of new info on WiiU Fit is the only casual fare they gave and neither one of those is going to get much more than a passing glance from the casual crowd Nintendo won over with Wii.    On the flip-side, if your a core gamer but not into Nintendo franchises there's still nothing here.

1. The people who are going to be buying games like Wii Fit U, Just Dance, etc, aren't going to be watching a Nintendo Direct. So it doesn't make sense to spend a lot of time talking about them in such a context. They'll release that sort of info through events, not through internet streams. The only time they spent talking about Wii Fit U was to talk about its connection to MiiVerse - MiiVerse was the focus. The new party game was mostly mentioned as an aside, as "we're making a new 3D Mario, a new Mario Kart, and here's a hint of another game, too, that we're not going to spend much time on today".

2. This was all about Nintendo's own upcoming games. That is, games that Nintendo is publishing. You expect Nintendo to have a long line of non-Nintendo franchises in a Nintendo Direct focused on Nintendo-published games?

In short, you're judging the situation very poorly. This isn't the full Wii U lineup for the future, it's a selection of games that fit a very specific subset.

There's more Nintendo Directs coming up, and then E3. If they're going to talk about games that will attract mainstream interest, it'll be at E3, when the mainstream media are watching closely, and get a chance to go hands-on with some of the games. Or, Nintendo will actually invite the mainstream media around to sample a game directly.
