There are many definitions of hardcore vs casual gamers. But however one defines it, I highly doubt a Wii Fit U target audience would either watch a live stream of ND, or even on youtube, even for me the first 15 minutes made me regret setting that alarm clock so early. This ND, along with the apologies and gestures, is aimed at loyal Nintendo supporters who have had to put up with not just a lack of titles but the constant berating of Nintendo haters.
This is a late move but a good start to what I hope is a more consistent diet of first and 3rd party news. Relying on E3 to get the message out is too old fashioned. ND is the way to go, and Nintendo's decision to offer 2 ND this month was smart. Casual audience is where advertising will be most worth the buck.
This also gave haters more fuel, despite Iwata anticipating it thus foretellng more 3rd party news to come. Haters will seize upon this, until Wii U gains traction. 3DS was getting the same treatment not that long ago.
