I think they will hold off on Yoshi's Island as well even if it is in development out of respect for Ubi Soft and Rayman Legends. Hard enough competing against NSMBU, throw in a 2D Yoshi game coming down the pipeline and it would make it tougher for Ubi Soft to sell their game. 

Don`t know why those games can`t come to Wii U.

Wii had a Splinter Cell game; DS had a GTA game. Wii U is more geared towards core gamers than Wii and DS were.
Watch Dogs is the wild card. I hope that it lands on Wii U seeing as it would be perfect for the console`s controller.

Nintendo announcing a rival to Rayman wouldn´t kill it. Unless it would come in March aswell.
