Metroid is easily Nintendo's best franchise (excluding Other M). I want more than anything a SM styled 2D Metroid that is huge, and has minimal hand holding, and nothing from other M.

C'mon Nintendo, I need this.

Really? you don' t want the gameplay to be the same as Metroid: other M aside for missle shooting. I felt that the control of Samus was excellent in that game. It felt a good blend between old school Metroids and Metroid Prime. It sort of reminds me of how Super Mario 3D Land, a mesh of old-school and modern gameplay. It just cries out to me to be used in a 3DS metroid game. The way to shoot missles definitely needs to change from that though. Perhaps, I could be fine with it was a quick button press that could be changed almost on the fly. The story from that game was pretty awful so they should limit it greatly. In fact limiting the story would enable better Metroid level design as things wouldn't need to be scripted as much

She had no weight to her, she just ran around like a madwoman. The combat was repetitive and far to easy. In Prime, Samus moved with weight and power, she carried a sense of ferocity. And the gameplay was excellent. Tons of exploration, good shooting mechanics, great puzzles and bosses. Other M was just plain bad. No exploration, easy dumbed down combat, dumb first person view. Everything was bad.

Well actually Samus is supposed to be fast and acrobatic.  She was way to slow in the Prime games and Other M was simply fantastic! Can't wait to see a sequel on 3DS or WiiU!
