Actually, it makes perfect sense. Communities have EVERYTHING to do with depth.   ANY game (and not just video games) evolve as time passes.  Look at the NFL for an example.  50 years ago, the game was far different than it was today.  Why is it so different?  Because players and coaches analyzed the game and found new tactics and strategies to use.  Then, their opponents had to adjust to these new strategies and find ways to combat them.  The more you explore the possibilities, the more things change.

...

Of course, none of that really applies in Free For All games.  Just too much going on for any really deep strategy to go on.  2vs2 and 1v1 are where the strategy is at.

I see that you are coming from a different direction. SSB has evolved depth through its communities. Out of the box however bananaking21 and myself would argue that PSASBR is deeper than SSBB was when it launched. Also there are some online communities for Royale so with time it will at least become a bit deeper. One thing I've been exploring is tricking players into biffing their level 1 super. By setting up a "too good to be true" scenario most players will press R2 without comboing into it. In fact that is probably the mechanic that differentiates this game the most from Smash, biffing supers. That would be like having 200% damage in SSB and fully healing by just dodging.

Also level 2 and 3 supers become very useful at the end of a stock/kill limit match. If it's life verse life I'll save up for a level 2 or 3 as long as no one else gets to a level 1.

Oh btw this article has the info about them looking into ranked 1 vs 1. Sorry I didn't post it in the other thread. http://www.dualshockers.com/2012/12/12/superbot-looking-into-timer-for-stockkill-looking-to-balance-drake-raiden-kratos/

@OP. Royale has sold over half a million. With the free character DLC coming out in a few weeks it should keep selling at a steady rate. In time it will sell 5 million + so these two weeks of SSBB outselling the PS3 version are a non issue.

I dont think 5mil is possible, My max on this game w/o bundle would be 2mil imo. Yes DLC will be free and more to come but is it really enough? I mean SSBB had DLC packed in the game already in a comparison! Secret Characters, Boards, Extras like boss battles! I mean the least PSASBR can do is include free DLC. If you think it'll sell 5mil i'll respect that but i think thats way too much! Also PS3 and Vita should be counted seperate not together imo. lets say SSBB was also on DS. Then if you combined they'll have close to 25mil if not more!

My 5 million + prediction is in no way serious. However I am serious in counting Vita+PS3 sales. If I asked how many copies Assassin's Creed 3 has sold the correct answer is 9.126 million with a certain portion on each console and PC. With PSASBR it is makes even more sense to combine the sales since both players play together in the same online arena. If Nintendo actually released a port of SSBB on DS (sold seperately) then yeah both should be combined. Releasing a variation however (like Assassin's creed III Liberation) shouldn't be included since it's a different game.

ok, they should be combined but also seperated imo. It shouldn't be compared to an exclusive platformer then imo. Like COD makes 25mil copies sold together shouldn't be compared to halo (3 or 4) which is at 11.7mil and 8mil respectively! cuz if halo 3 was on all systems then it probably have 18-20mil! See where im going with this?

Let's imagine Bungie kept the rights to the IP when they went multiplat. As a result they end up making Halo 4 for all three systems. Even if it was the same exact game as 343's with just as much marketing, it would not sell 8 million on 360. This is for a number of reasons. Let's look at the groups that bought Halo 4.

The hardcore halo/microsoft fanboys. This relatively small group would buy the game no matter what on 360.

The Halo fans with a 360. This much larger group would mostly buy it on 360 but lots of them, say 20%, would buy it on PS3 for a variety of reasons. Maybe like me they started the generation on 360 but are ending it on PS3. Or they don't like paying for live. The only reason this 20% bought it on 360 in the real situation was because it was exclusive.

The general gamer. This even larger group bought the game because it was the big thing. Most of them only have one HD system so they'd still buy on 360 but a few also have a PS3. Only like 10% of these sales would be lost to the competition.

That makes Halo 4 get about a million or two less sales on the 360. Now let's look at how much it would sell on the competition from fresh sales (not ones subtracted from 360).

Non 360 owners. This is a small group. In America where Halo does best most gamers have had a 360 at least once during the generation so this mostly includes people that got rid of their xbox. I'd say only a million or two of these people would buy Halo 4.

Wii U owners. It's software launch is very dull so many early adopters would want Halo 4 to show off their system. However that is generously a half million sales.

So add all that magic up and with a lot of guesstimation I get 7 million for 360, 3 million for PS3, a half million for PC, and a half million for Wii U. This is only a total of 11 million, no where near COD levels. Now think about the PS3 and Vita market. 99% of Vita owners also own a PS3 and a majority of us have a backlog of Vita games to play. This means if the Vita version wasn't released, the PS3 version would have sold almost exactly as much as the Vita+PS3 games combined.

I made it up as I went, but can you see what I'm getting at with my bullshit numbers?
