Well, you could pick it up for other reasons and it not be overkill (which is a loose term for me, anyway, since nothing stays "too much" for long). It just better suits more complex setups.

True, but I mean like are there any games out there that actually take full advantage of these high end cards other than say some of the crazy mods people make for games like Crysis?  it just seems like a card like that would be overkill for 99% of today's PC games, and most games coming out within the next couple years or so.
