When I meant Lead platform, when all three versions were being made at the same time, not a wii game that gets ported over to another platform at a later stage as the publisher tries to recover some income from the development of a product :)
I am not convinced that dev costs are likely to increase as much as Epic and Bioware say. Certainly they wont need to sell 20-30 million copies, thats just not going to happen for most next gen games. If we look at the market for PS3/Xbox that equals 140 million users compared to the wii's 90, so you could say that the current HD market is bigger. So combined I don't think they will struggle to convince a good proportion to upgrade from that number over time.
I dont think most people are saying that the wii-u will tank, just that its facing a uphill battle and that is extremely clear that much of gamers focus will be on what consoles MS/Sony bring out and what new games/gadgets they will get to play. If the wii-u is truely 3 to 5x times lower than the next gen, then it will struggle to get next gen games and will actually be getting only ports of the end of this gen... all depends on how long people will continue to make Ps3/Xbox games.. with the market looking like its dropping bad, who knows.
