Nintendo gets by on their core IP and the fact that they own the kids market, which still gravitates to handhelds. And in Japan where people use their handheld as their main gaming device.
But thats about it.
Stop worrying about Vita. It never had a chance to begin with anyway.
If you are one of the very few people that have one, enjoy it for what it is.

 Yeah, I know what you mean.
I guess I'm past the age where I care what other people think in regards to something like that. In fact, I've actually had people express interest in what kind of system or game I was playing while using my 3DS in public - from kids to older adults... even a couple of attractive women.

Yeah, every time I go out I see adults in their 20's with a 3DS including lawyers at the food court in Courhouses.
But I do see adults in their 30's & 40's with a PS Vita, as well as kids ages 8 to 10.
And the 5 & 6 year olds kids are asking their parents for PS Vita.
and all the 7 year olds want Christmas 2012 was the 360.
But yeah, I only see teenagers with a 3DS outdoors, as well as College Students.
