gergroy said: It isnt our fault, its nintendos. Microsoft and sony went with a similar achitecture and control schemes that made it easier to port between the two. Nintendo went their own way and they benefitted from the approach, but third parties did not. To maximise sells, developers need to get on as many platforms as possible and nintendo was just too different to make it an easy thing for developers to do. Seems like nintendo will probably be in the same boat again. Hopefully they can get some love soon, but who knows... |
You won't see them in the same boat with the Wii U thanks to Nintendo's forward thinking with regards to their choice of GPU and architecture. It's going to be much easier to port to and from the Wii U, PS4 and 720 than it currently is to port between the Wii U, PS3 and 360. And you'll probably find the Wii U being the lead platform for multiplatform titles if publishers want a Wii U SKU. My reasoning behind this is quite simple. The Wii U is going to have the largest marketshare, it's going to be the least powerful of all 3 consoles this gen, it's got a standard rendering pipeline and a similar architecture to the other two. The second in that list is the most important of the lot. It makes sense because doing things the other way around means you could end up with a game too large in scale for the market leader to handle. That's why the vast majority of 6th gen games had the PS2 as the lead supplying up-ports to the PC, Xbox and Gamecube.

But how can you be so sure that it'll be the market leader?
Aaaand I see ninjablade's already replied...^^

Because it's going to have a years head start and will be the cheapest. I'm expecting Nintendo to have between 10 and 15m units in homes worldwide by the time the other two launch, assuming that they both launch in November or December. And ninjablade may have replied but he hasn't given any reasoning that makes him think that I'm wrong.

are you looking at the thirdparty sales or what the wii u sold last week, and even this week, its just launched with mario and selling like a dead system, 16,000 this week in the states, not to mention the wiiu is having trouble running current gen ports you expect it to handle nextgen ports which will be 10x more powerful, oh dear. wanna make a bet your wrong, wanna bet the wiiu wont even sell 10 million this year, i bet a week ban bet for you and 2 weeks ban bet for me.
