I think the problem was that 3rd party dicked Wii owners around after the launch titles.
EA Sports games simplified with cartoonish graphics
On rails shooters
Shovelware
Ontop of that the bias metacritic reviews did not help. i.e being marked lower because gfx were not upto par to 360/ps3 and because controls were not traditional.
So when one did release a decent game everyone dismissed it already.
