You really can't shame those who contribute to those threads into quiescence. They are in the grip of a mania, and whether most of them admit it or not. They left their common sense at the door. The fact that they debate these rumors seriously, treat them as fact, dispute them, and honestly believe one is more reliable then the other, or one source is more reliable then the other. Proves that many of the posters are truly beyond reason. The only argument you need to reach this conclusion is that they dispute the merit of one bullshit story, because it doesn't jive with a much earlier bullshit story. They literally believe that their shit smells better then most.

I agree it is a sad commentary on this community, but it is a pattern that has repeated itself many times, and they never seem to learn. Some posters are easily coaxed into joining into a mass delusion. They see patterns where rational people see some self aggrandizing assholes who are copy pasting each others work. They even see volume as proof. Whereas most rational people see it as proof that it is just easy to perpetrate a lie. Eventually it will die down, because they can only work themselves into a frenzy for so long.

As for the rest of us who haven't contributed anyway. We don't need any encouragement to keep on doing what we have been doing. We know that we are winners for not participating. We save our time, sanity, and dignity. Every time we pass up another rumor thread. We know that we are making the hoaxer our bitch rather then the other way around. They put in the time, and they didn't get anything out of us.
