I honestly don't know what to think about this rumor, because on the one had a Nintendo fan like me could see the coolness of a controller with a touchscreen, plus Sony has more than a few times copied Nintendo's BETTER ideas, so this could very well turn out to be true. at bold: and you are not the only one to hint at this...what does this even mean? The main complaints about the wiiu does not lie with the gamepad..it's about the seemingly weak hardware and software support. On the other hand we have people jumping into conclusion, with a very vague rumor about a lcd screen on a controller must be = wiiu pad look alike or something which is not the case at all. it's bad enough some of you are ignoring the dreamcast but it's even worse when you can't think of a different form factor for a controller nor focus on the much more interesting bit that is the biometric sensors built in as part of the controller itself. 

This just beyond silly and to be perfectly honestly a bit childish. I sure hope people didn't say omg nintendo how original..copying sega (or apple) again or something when the 'rumors' of the wiiu pad was going around. I feel that your frustrations are misplaced...want to blame someone/something for the negativity around wiiu? Blame Nintendo, aspects such as binding the account to the console it's made, stupid parental control related limitations, drought of games post launch and weak hardware which is most definitely better than ps360 but those are 7 year old consoles. Those were/are the real problems

First paragraph: Yes, the Wii U will very likely be underpowered considering PS720, however, POWER!!!, doesn’t make good games – and good games trump a consoles power. In this generation there have been many games that look dam good but are an utter crock of shit. So getting upset because a console is underpowered is BS, considering what is really important is whether or not the games are any good – any Nintendo has MORE good games than Sony or MS combined. Yes POWER in a console is important, but that is just one of many considerations, the main one being good games.

As for the Dreamcast, no Nintendo fan I know ever looked at the Dreamcast and said, ‘ha ha what a crap idea’. But you find gamers often saying the same thing about Nintendo, whenever they try to ‘innovate’. That’s the problem I have with many gamers, because it seems as whenever Nintendo does it, it’s crap, but if anyone else does it, it’s cool.

Second paragraph: Yes Nintendo should be blamed for a lot of the hate it gets, however, a lot of that hate is also misplaced I think. For example, if it wasn’t for Nintendo and having a cheaper console alternative in the market, Sony and MS would likely have already been selling us minimum $800 consoles and $400 handhelds. But people simply think let’s shit on Nintendo for making cheap consoles.  Nintendo is not making a cheap or underpowered console, they are giving you a more economical alternative, to Sony and MS! Nintendo is Nintendo and a different company in the videogame industry. Sadly, you can hardly say the same for Sony, as they bring almost nothing to the table other than making what the other guys do better. Now it seems they are rumored to be making the touch screen controller better,...ha, ha, laughable, I wish they would!

Good visuals don't equal to good games? No shit. I don't think anyone ..ever would say such a stupid thing nor should they. This is why we saw absolute shit games on both HD consoles AND on the wii. We will see such games in all future consoles too. Great visuals DO however can make a gaming experience even better! The issue with wiiu is not even about great power...it's about comparable power to next gen MSony consoles. This is a recipe for a wii like 3rd party disaster waiting to happen. It's definitely true we have to wait to see if the next MSony consoles show a significant leap over current gen and the wiiu....but all signs do point to that. About nintendo having more good games than MSony combines...yeah no. It's opinion and personal preferance based yes but given how absolutely tragic the wii situation was with third party support you are seriously deluding yourself the overall library of wii is better than PS360 ones. If you stuck with just wii last gen then you missed out big time on some of the best experiences of the whole gen

Sure shows how much respect you have for other companies and what they do the way you ignore dreamcast and attack sony. It's downright shameful. You live in a lala land where everyone is out to get ninty. I dare you to tell me people and the media in general were not excited about the wiiu pad. How can the blame be misplaced for

1. Having a slightly more powerful system than "7" year old consoles

2. Not scheduling good software support post launch

3. Implimenting horrible design choices for online such as tied accounts system

exactly? MSony would still go for options that they think would work best for them with or without Nintendo. I mean talk about being paranoid. You are basically diverting blame and hoping companies and products fail out of sheer paranoia. I bet nintendo did everyyyyyyything first right? Laughable...most definitely. So what if sony doesn't go for a pad design and does something different? what if they actually do bring biometric built in controllers? would you stop acting so paranoid? Would you stop spewing hate for no reason whatsoever? I doubt it. It's a shame too, you reflect bad on nintendo fans in general. Good news is not everyone is like you.

If you want to hope and pray for something, make yourself uselful and pray for something that benefit all of us gamers. Hope for three consoles with strengths in different areas that will bring us great gaming experiences across the board. Hoping a console launch to have trouble like this is absolutely disgusting behavior

Hate and spite for hypocritical thinking, sure I’m guilty. But don’t get mad because I’m point out the hypocrisy of many games in here, don’t hate me hate your own biased thinking.

First Paragraph:

Well, firstly, in case you didn’t notice, the Wii had a lot of 3^rd party support. Simply because it didn’t have the games you liked from various 3^rd parties, doesn’t mean it was a failure, or anything close to it. Just goes to prove my point, that simply because Nintendo doesn’t behave like Sony or MS, people think they are somehow a failure and so it’s ok to hate. It is this line of thinking which is shameful, as you seem to forget the 3^rd party support that Wii U is already getting plus its great 1^st party games, plus Nintendo is always very secretive about what it is doing. The bottom line is that Nintendo, with all its failings, remains a valuable part of the video game industry, regardless of its lack of 3^rd party support or whatever other reason gamers raise for hating on them.

By the way do you own a Wii U or are you like many gamers waiting for 3^rd party support? And I never skipped a mainstream console since NES, just so you know, and don’t plan to, whether or not it has a touch screen controller.

Second paragraph:

Not sure what your point is about the Dreamcast, I loved the console, and whether Nintendo copied the Dreamcast or not, I could really care less. Anyways, I will tell you that MANY people weren’t excited about the Wii U and the Gamepad, and they still aren’t. They might not have said specifically that it would be crap (just a matter of speaking by the way), but many people certainly didn’t think that it would be a benefit to gaming, and still don’t. Or are you saying that everyone in the industry have been singing the praises of Wii U and its Gamepad?

Third paragraph:

1.      Many people are happy with the power of current consoles.

2.      Nintendo has been actively trying to get 3rd party support. What, you think they should hold a gun to ever 3^rd party’s head?

3.      So this is a reason to hate? There are many other good things about Nintendo’s online offering, but you’re too busy focusing on what others offer than what Nintendo offers.

In the end, you’re the one in denial and as I said, don’t hate me for pointing out the obvious hypocrisy of some gamers that have nothing good to say about the Gamepad, that it’s too big, it’s an Ipad with buttons, I don’t want to look down while gaming, etc etc etc, while at the same time willing to embrace a PS iteration of the same. If Sony ‘innovates’, then GREAT better for all gamers. The reality is however, that people are often less than enthusiastic about Nintendo and its offerings, and often think that the industry is going in one direction while Nintendo is going in another – so they should hate Nintendo. Well that’s BS, and it’s clear that you think this way, that simply because Nintendo doesn’t offer you the same graphical power or online capabilities, or whatever as MS or Sony, then your hate is justified, lol, alright then.
