It has actually been proven multiple times their exclusives can carry a console to profits. See gamecube. I have actually seen halo outsell several nintendo exclusives I think but from a system seller perspective nintendo still do fine. It would definitely be in sony's best interest to reset their tactics and write cheques again. Gran turismo takes too long to make and that is their only real system seller. Sony do need to start acting and not waiting for things to come to them. Third parties can no longer carry their systems for them.

But its nice to see spurg more reasonable here. Even if he does hate wii u. But it really is too early to say. Especially when we don't know anything about the new systems other then rumors. Definitely blocking used games would be a disaster for sony.

I think Uncharted can be considered a system seller for Sony at this point. Still, they don't have any franshises quite like Halo or Mario. I think they were trying to make Sackboy into their own personal cashcow with spinoff series like LBP:Karting, but that didn't turn out so well. They do currently have a bit more variety than Ninty and M$, though.

Oh, and Halo 3 outsold Mario Galaxy and Halo Reach outsold DKC Returns. I'm pretty sure Nintendo has put out more million sellers this gen than Microsoft, though. :) That said, next gen is still up in the air. With the increased cost of HD development, Ninty probably won't be able to push out as many titles as they did last gen, so they'll most likely be forced to rely on third parties a bit more, and M$ is sure to release a few fresh IPs of their own.
