I too think this will be the last year for 1st party.

PSP late 2013 / early 14
360 mid to late 2015
PS3 late 2015 / early 2016

What big first party games are coming for 360 in 2013? Let alone 14 and 15

I like that. In one word, you just swept XBLA under the rug. Nice job.

MS is actually smart to just rely on that now, leaving multiplats and 3rd party deals doing the rest of the work until Nov 2013 and beyond.

no Ms do a great job with XBLA but there not filling the shelfs in stores are they and making the mass market by a system.. The thread is about first party support going forward and apart from Gears (which i only just found out isnt 1st party) MS i dont think will release anythign else for the 360, which is on topic. in no way am i saying there support of XBLA doesnt matter because for the exsisting 360 owners who dont go next gen at first this will be ok for them.

This argument is pointless, they know retail is truly what matters and they want to keep adding to Microsofts list because of exactly how much Microsoft lacks. They hail to the banner of Microsoft. I follow the games and follow the games and went to Microsoft when they had them and stopped focusing on them as much when they didn't. It's completely evident that Microsoft strategically make games, they dont just make them  because they are a gaming company. They didnt feel the need to have the 360 go out with a bang, plain and simple and those guys will use XBLA like a crutch as if it meant anything. Downloadable games with 90% be equal across platforms next gen and they will search for the next exclusive lineup to match Sonys retail by itself in numbers.

Your stuck in the past. Downloadable games have been more prominent then they ever were. Id say Gears Ascension is going out with a bang.

You speak very matter-of-factly when your just spinning and guessing like the rest of us.

Downloadable games are not a seller of consoles, its a perk because they can be found anywhere. People buy consoles majorly because of the retail titles. You're dragging this out at will, when you know exactly what the place of downloadables. Journey and Walking Dead were high nominees for game of the year and still people dont see a downloadable as a console seller. The game of the year however is available on both HD consoles. My only speculation is on what Sony will do with their ten year plan. Microsoft will follow them like a good little boy.

J_Allard pretty much said it all. Were not talking in terms of system sellign....were talking support, and bringing quality games. You can't deny that with phones and tablets, downloadable games have risen in relevance over the years. Minecraft 360 sales are a beast....they were higher then COD for a week or two in player count.

I think your clearly deluded as to which corporation is the others b!t%h in the real world. 360 can do a 10 year plan because they earned it, not because they are "copying" Sony, which is a very ignorant way of putting it.

I am not deluded, you just havent been paying attention. A lot of Microsofts success this gen has been attributed to using the strengths Sony already had.

- Major third party support

- Multimedia focus

- Ten year plan (Including support for trilogies which would normally span around seven years)

"Sony has already gone on record that it has a "ten year plan" for the PS3, so it's not entirely surprising that Microsoft is also planning for the long haul with Xbox 360."
