45. Crouching Tiger, Hidden dragon, 2000, Ang Lee
As for many others this movie introduced me to Chinese cinema. After having seen many more movies like it I still think this is one of the best. I just watched it again last night and it is as great as the first time I saw it. A story that you need to pay attention to to follow, and still I feel like I should read the book to get the background for the different houses involved. The cinematography, musical score and insane live action fight/stunt scenes make this movie one to come back to. And those ancient city backdrops and great open landscapes, a true visual feast.
