Yes, they are silent because they were ill prepared and was over confident about their product. Given how poor the third party support is they should have timed their first party releases so there wouldn't be any major droughts post launch which is not the case. Looks like a rushed launch to me really, in an attempt to get the hardware into the market before the competition

I am not arguing or disagreeing. I just cannot fathom how they thought the Wii U would have been a good idea. Those launch games were probably some of the worst ideas Nintendo has ever had. Thinking that that would sell systems. People got excited for three games. Beat those games and now have to wait three months for anything else.

well here's how I see it..they though that

1. NSMB would be a big hardware mover (could be...who knows it might have been way worse without it)

2. Casual will fall in love with the pad (I think this is a BIG mistake. A pad that can interact with the tv is not a new idea nowadays. So despite things like off tv play it's something that won't grab the attention of the casuals like the wii did. The unimaginative marketing doesn't help either wub wub wub wiiu a new a console wub wub wub do this wub do that wub and more wub. I heard they parted ways with the guys who did the wii would like to play advertisements. BIG mistake. Those commercials were simple, catchy and very effective)

3. Being a next gen console in the market way before the rivals would entice core gamers. I guess they didn't think the backlash regarding specs would be this severe.
