Nintendo never had this "hardcore gamer" fanbase. To say that somehow the GameCube had it is laughable, the entirety of the "hardcore gamer" audience made fun of the GameCube calling it things like "gaycube".

"Hardcore gamers" are something that came in with PC gaming and Xbox. They're also not really hardcore, but just big couch potatoes who want a cooler name to call themselves.

Most of Nintendo's fanbase has always been just average gamers, not hardcore and not casual. The PS2 and GBA had most of them during their time, and the Wii and DS had most of them during their time. Everyone seems to forget the average gamer and. Most gamers are just regular gamers.

There's too much focus on "hardcore gamers" more classically known as nerds/geeks, and casual gamers. The majority of people who own a Wii are neither of these types of gamers, most are just normal average gamers who play videogames regularly and aren't couch potatoes about it.

Good post, fully agree
