Another point, it's possible that before Sony/MS release their new consoles, Nintendo will have already built up a decent user base & online community, released their AAA 1st party games, and 3rd parties may start releasing more games on the system by then since the user base is higher. This could put the new consoles at a similar disadvantage to what is described in the OP at their launch. Those predictions act as if the PS4/Nextbox are coming out next week!
