Same. People proclaiming doom for the Wii U are going to look pretty foolish a year or two from now when the other consoles end up selling even less. I sort of feel that what's going on in the handheld realm right now is a foreshadowing of what's to come for console gaming.
3DS stumbles out the gate to mediocre sales -> price is dropped in desperation and library begins to improve -> console begins to gain momentum and reach pretty strong sales but still not great. Vita comes out and is a sales disaster. Same will happen to Nintendo and Sony in the home console market with Wii U and PS4. MS is more of a wild card to me. I think they'll actually suffer the least decline of the three as they have gained much brand recognition and more popular franchises, but I definitly see a pretty bad decline for home console gaming this gen, if not an all out crash. Main reasons being the economy, the increasing development costs, and gamers losing interest in the same old franchises and formulas, as well as seemingly fewer and fewer games appealing to the masses.
THIS is exactly why Nintendo created the Wii, to ward against this inevitable decline. But alas, people shunned it, and now the industry decline will increase rapidly as anticipated.
