I guess self-defense against criminals is not a purpose? Are you also against archery competitions (weapons as a sport)? Tell you what, I'll buy you a house next door to me on the condition that you put a big sign in your yard that says "I don't believe in guns and don't own one", that way, any criminals will bother you and not me.
