It really isn't "simple as that".

For this generation (and with Wii Series' "small" amount of titles) I would say it's the biggest Nintendo Franchise.

However, Mario is the biggest franchise overall. Just for you I'll remake my list:

1.) Mario 2.) Wii Series 3.) Pokemon

Mario has sold more this generation, and has a larger amount of games.

The Wii series has 7 games in it.

Wii Sports
Wii Sports Resorts
Wii Fit
Wii Fit Plus
Wii Play
Wii Party
Wii Music

Wii Music isn't much of a success. Wii Play is the tech demo for the controller, and Wii Play is easily negated by Mario Party 8.

Your claim is - essentially - that Wii Sports and Wii Fit, along with their two sequels,  are larger than the entire Mario franchise for the 7th generation.

 

Putting the Wii series above Pokemon for lifetime is just as insane. Let me point this out. For the GBA, Pokemon sold three times as much as the highest selling non-Pokemon title. From slightly before the launch of the GBC and up to the launch of the DS, Nintendo's handhelds practically were the Pokemon machines.

Add to that the fact that Pokemon has sold more than the Wii series, and it's absolutely ludicrous to put a franchise that lasted for 4 years as bigger than the franchise that can easily be claimed to have been kept Nintendo alive, relevant and profitable for the better part of a decade.


Its pretty apparent you haven't checked the sales. Mario Party has not negated Wii Play lol, Wii Play is pushing like 30 mil, while Mario Party has like what 10? The Wii series has only sold less thanks to Mario being on both handheld and home consoles.
