Mario - Pokemon - Zelda ... by sales and by sheer volume of games + spinoffs

I'd argue that Zelda is second by legacy, because of how long it's been in the game, and because of Nintendo's careful treatment of the 25th anniversary. And promoting events like the Zelda Symphony, etc. etc.
