Also it introduced PS+ the best paid subsciption model for a console ever by far. PS3 has given us Uncharted, Ratchet Future, Resistance, Heavy Rain, Infamous, LBP, Journey, Flower, God of War 3, HD collections, with Last of Us, GoW: Ascension, Ni No Kuni, Puppeteer, Beyond, and Sly left to come as well as all the third party offerings. It has earned its place among its brethren. It may well pass PS1 with time as well sales wise.
