Not only are they seen as something that kids do, the marketing itself only supports the image. Sony's marketing department haven't yet breached out of marketing the PS brand to others than teenagers. With their marketing it's really hard to reach grown-ups. Then again, if they were marketing the brand to grown-ups, they would be losing their core market. Maybe you're not quite getting it, but the core market for videogames are immature males, with the vast majority of them being teenagers.
I do agree Sony bought the DVD price down with PS2 and BD price down with PS3, but let's face it; who cares. That has really nothing to do with to with the subject. |
I am not twisting anything. The PS increased the amount of adult active gamers. The utility the PS2 provided created a center hub for the family. It wasn't until the Playstation that the gaming console became the sole hub of the living room and thats why Microsoft came in as well. Its not a gimmick that wears out its welcome like what Nintendo does, but rather something that adds to the gameplay that people will not get tired of that they do outside of gaming (Stable utility). This is why videogames were taken seriously as serious tech because it because the all in one device no different than an Iphone. Everyone saw the writing on the wall once the major tech and software commpanies joined the gaming industry and took the favor from Nintendo. They changed the way people see videogames. I have aboslutely no idea what you are talking about and I wish you would look up the age of the average gamer because its been going between 25-35 for over a decade. They are growing up man. Nintendo and Sega raised a lot of gamers in the late eighties to early 90's and many switched to the Playstation and in the 2000's the Xbox.

Sony introduced the casual teens with the PS brand thanks to propietary format Nintendo losing the core hasnt happened until Wii, and still is not as bad as you are making out to be...
