The biggest problem of GC was lack of 3rd party support, not the price. Nintendo has had a huge problem with thirds since N64. Hence the fact of all its hardcore consoles failed, except Nes/Snes(which had a lot of 3rds support). I'd say 3rd party support on GC was pretty decent. 

Nothing compared to PS2 3rd support.

What was missing on GC from 3rd parties that was on PS2?  GTA

Can't really think of any other major 3rd party IPs that weren't on GC.
