so you think you can roam the hallways undetected after getting in the school undetected with a firearm? The is very naive thinking if you think you can pull it off.

Assuming the school doesn't have metal detectors or security to check every student's bags at every entrance, how hard is it to conceal a handgun? Answer: Not very.

most school shootings are from people going into the school guns blazing with as many weapons as they can carry... so you would plan to carry around a backpack while looking for the janitor... and what if you never see him? Do you go to class or do you roam the halls while class is in looking for him? Then when you see him what do you do? Stalk  him or pull out your gun right then and there?

I'm not going to pretend to understand exactly how these disturbed human beings think, or act like I can put myself directly in their frame of mind. But am I allowed to make the assumption that when they go into the school guns blazing, it's often 1) unexpected and unnanounced, and 2) in a school light on (or bereft of) security or custodial crew armed with firearms? I imagine the shooters aren't completely psycho and beyond manner or logic, and if their aim is to take as many lives as possible, this is best achieved by first eliminating the biggest threats.

It also seems like you're assuming janitors can suddenly perform at the level of trained officers when bullets suddenly start flying and things get real. I'd venture to guess that simply putting a gun into a custodial worker's possession doesn't suddenly teach that person how to not panic, identify threats, manage a crowd or subdue a threat while minimizing casualties. I'm sure these people would receive some training to that effect, nowhere near the level you'd expect of a police officer. Otherwise, they'd just be police officers.
