hardcore gamers have all consoles...

You could be hardcore for one company though.

It goes both ways.  Nintendo's been around far longer than the other manufacturers on the market, though, so you could say if you're a hardcore Nintendo fan then you're a "true" hardcore gamer. ;)

They've out-lasted Sega, Atari Jaguar, Toshiba, Bandai WonderSwan, Neo Geo, and they're currently going more than toe-to-toe with Sony and Microsoft.  Pretty amazing they've lasted this long.

but recently the definition of hardcore is first person shooter...

i didnt even like medal of honor when i was younger XD

A hardcore gamer is a gaming hobbyist. They can have one or all consoles, just depends on how much you put in. A good amount of flexible income is spent on their gaming needs. Its as simple as that. They go to forums like you are now to talk to other gamers, or read gaming news and keep up with the latest gaming trends. They know about the developers and who they trust to make games for them. They have a taste for games, meaning they know good from bad just by habit of time teaching them proper mechanics.
