The Gamecube (as the original xbox) had the PS2 to compete with, but now that the PS brand is not as big as it was before a GC2 could do a lot better in terms of sales. Marketing was a problem during the GC era, and based on the Wii U it looks like that wasn't going to change.
In terms of 3rd party support it would be hard to tell, the GC had decent 3rd party support (at least compare to the Wii), so I think a GC2 would have the same amount of 3rd party games. I think a modern GC would be a moderate success, obviously a lot of variables, but if I had to guess maybe a little lower to the current PS360 in terms of sales.

PS brand is not as big????? The only brand that can survive such a horrible launch is the ps brand that just showes you how big it is

Having a 150m userbase to a (max) of 90m is bad no matter how you look at it. Especially considering during that gen Sony had the exact same competition as this gen (Nintendo and MS), it wasn't like a "lone wolf" or anything.

If the PS2 launched with a $599 pricetag than you can say that.
|
And that's one of the reasons why the PS brand is weaker. Sony made some huge mistakes this gen that made them lost people, especially in the U.S.

ill bet you 5 slaps on the ass, If Microsoft or Nintendo's nextgen consoles comeout with a $599 pricetag they wont do the same thing the ps3 did, You can tell now by looking at the chartz the ps3 is kicking ass left & right with the same price tag as the others.
