The Gamecube (as the original xbox) had the PS2 to compete with, but now that the PS brand is not as big as it was before a GC2 could do a lot better in terms of sales. Marketing was a problem during the GC era, and based on the Wii U it looks like that wasn't going to change.
In terms of 3rd party support it would be hard to tell, the GC had decent 3rd party support (at least compare to the Wii), so I think a GC2 would have the same amount of 3rd party games. I think a modern GC would be a moderate success, obviously a lot of variables, but if I had to guess maybe a little lower to the current PS360 in terms of sales.
