A little bit of a market problem from what I can see. Nintendo seemed focus on promoting the family aspect of the device. and Mario Bros.
Which isn't bad but they failed to capitalize on promoting anything else making it look like the device is a one trick pony which is what many feel doomed the Wii. Nintendo should have had a advertisement dedicated to showing the media capabilities of its Nintendo TVii and how it can enhance the living room experience along with at least a few commercials advertising the more traditional/"Hardcore" games/ports that were on the system during the month of December once the luster of New Super Mario Bros. U wore off.
Heck, one for Ninja Gaiden 3: RE, which Nintendo published themselves, would have probably pushed the game into better numbers due to how low key the original Ninja Gaiden 3 release was. Granted obviously they can't promote everything but the amount of advertisements and the type they put out there were pretty lame. It seems like the best way to get buzz on Nintendo products that don't have Mario in them is to buy a Nintendo system because the eShop and Wii channels do better jobs at getting stuff across then their main media branch has done.
