As long as Ninty doesn't screw him over with a string of bad games like Sonic or Megaman, then no. I feel that what they do is use their best ideas for games then slap Mario's face on it to sell.
Eventually it's remembered by the people as a "good mario game". The little guy has like 50 different Jobs.
Ex:Super Mario Bros 2. I only thought of it as a good mario game till I found out that it was originally an entire different game.
