Going by several posts in here, the PS2 sold ~40 million after the PS3 launched.  50% would be ~20 million.   Even with the 15% fluctuate, that's still just 23 million.  So 72.4 million + 23 million = 95.4 million.

Well 40 million was wrong. Look at what Ethomaz said. It's over 40m.

OK, we'll use your 47 million figure and your 15% fluctuation.   15% of 23.5 million = 3.5 million.    72.4 + 23.5 + 3.5 = 99.4 million.

That will not be enough to surpass the Wii's final total and obviously not the original PS's total.
