Create a new IP that everyone will swarm over like Pokemon. Enough with the embarrassing ports and half-baked games.

That's not possible. Pokemon has built a fanbase over many years. You don't just create an IP and then it instantly sells tens of millions of units. It doesn't work like that. Nintendo has proved themselves with Pokemon like Sony has proved themselves with Gran Turismo. These franchises take time and effort to be turned into huge sellers. It's not an overnight thing.

This is not true in Pokemon's case, the 1st gen of Pokemon sold better than all its successive gens. What does Sony have? They next Mh can lift it in Japan , GT for europe, (is there a gigantic seller in NA? actually don't know this). But if even one of those are absent, the demand in that specific region plummets.

Pokemon actually WAS an overnight sensation, it suddenly released in Japan and took the country by storm (R/B/Y remain the best selling games in Japan to date) which just naturally spread to other regions. They need a brilliant creative new idea that can only be done on the VIta platform.

This thing needs the next big hit, it's not impossible as it has been done before by Nintendo multiple times. (Wii Sports? Came outta nowhere. Super Mario Bros? exploded onto the scene, there was no "Mario" fanbase before this game. I already mentioned Pokemon.)

Actually no, it wasn't. It was a very slow burn out of the gates and mimicked, in many ways, the pattern of so many Wii and DS games: they (red and green) started with low sales and then snowballed into a monster as word of mouth gradually spread.

I don't literally mean that it was overnight, just that the idea came outta nowhere, spread quickly due to its attractiveness and all of a sudden everyone had Pokemon. The same thing happened with doodle jump and Angry Birds (albiet faster thanks to advancements in social media) , but how it gained popularity was the same, people were suddenly attracted to this new thing everyone was talking about and everyone started buying one. The data isn't on VGChartz but the weekly sales must look similiar to the view graph of Gangnam style. Like a Logistics function.

So my question is, why can't Sony do the same thing? They seem perfectly capable, a good enough IP with a fresh, unique, and original idea can save the platform if it snowballs.

Edit: Another examples-Nintendogs, Brain Age both new ideas that spread via word of mouth. Boom. You have a hit.
