I am currently board with Home System gaming. I only buy 1 Home System a gen and chose the Wii. It was great at first and was on its way to becoming my favorite System of all time. In 2010, it all went downhill. Actually, it started in 2009 but I was busy playing the games from 2008 so I didn't notice. Nintendo seemed to abandon the Wii a bit early. I didn't buy a Wii game at all in 2012 and only a few in 2010 & 2011.

I ended up being extremely happy with Wii in its Early days & highly disappointed in its later days. Overall, Wii ended up being a decent console.

I have decided to change my buying habits with this upcoming gen. I normally get 40+ games for each home system I buy. I agree that it is too expensive. I used to not buy my games because I was younger. Now I buy all my own games and simply can't afford all those games. Looking back only half of those were great buys worth the $. Another thing is that I used to get all my systems during their first 3 months of release. (Launch Window) I have learned that is not a good idea. It makes me buy games that I normally wouldn't buy just so that I have something to play. I got a 3DS very early and bought 4 games that I normally wouldn't have bought. I learned from this and have only bought Mario Kart 7 & Paper Mario Sticker Star since. They both are awesome.

Luckily, my issues have easy fixes. I didn't buy a Wii U at launch and decided to wait until Sony & Microsoft announce their new Systems. I will then pick my next gen system of choice. If it is the Wii U, I will likely buy it during Holiday 2013 because the library should be built up by then. If I choose a system from Microsoft or Sony, I will buy it during Holiday 2014, when their respective library is extended a bit. I will then only buy my personal must-have games that I plan on playing a ton to get my $'s worth. Basically, less games but better quality.

While waiting, 3DS should keep my gaming time busy. 3DS is finally starting to get great games that I want to buy!
