I actually saw a rather odd article about 3DS sales on Siliconera yesterday:

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/01/08/satoru-iwata-on-animal-crossing-sales-56-of-players-are-female/

Normally they're quite good at reporting stuff, and on the whole the article was alright, but this line:

"With the Nintendo 3DS selling poorly even after their price cut in August, things were looking rather bleak for Nintendo. Things changed when Animal Crossing: New Leaf was released in November."

Like, I understand that Animal Crossing has been a massive boost, absolutely. But 3DS selling poorly and things looking bleak for Nintendo? Not quite sure where they got that from.

I found that odd too but the thing that struck me most was the amount of sales the article I posted says about the 3DS in the west.

The total number of Nintendo 3DS units sold in the U.S. currently stands at 6.46 million.

Where do they get their totals from o.O? Isnt VGC's number higher than that?

Yes, by about two million. It occurs to me that Super Mario 3D Land has an attach rate of over 40% in North America. :O
