Since no one here seems to know what the heck is going on... Listen.... Things are made to fail. That PS3 controller is no exception.
It has a foam strip (yes, foam) holding it's contacts in place. When the foam flattens, the contacts loosen up, and rub things they shouldn't (giving you unwanted button pressing).

Now, we're talking about foam here. The piece in the controller specifically isn't even worth a penny. So, don't go out and buy a new one. Open the thing up. Watch a video on youtube.

I open my controllers up on the first day I get them, because I know it's something that's going to happen eventually. Anyway, wrap that piece of foam in 2-3 layers of electrical tape, or something. Not too much tape, or it wont fit back in place.

But, I wouldn't buy anther controller because a part less than a penny went bad. It's foam. Foam gets flat over time. So, "playing like an animal," wasn't the case....

I've opened up several different types of PS3 controllers over the years.. No matter what they change, that foam is always inside. You may need to find the video that matches the model of your controller, and watch it TWICE before your first opening if it's your first time ever doing it. You wanna have an idea of what you're doing so don't try to follow along.

The same thing happened to me. I opened it and saw that the battery (supposed to be on the center kept in this possition by two plastic pieces) was loose. So it kept touching some circuits amd things. I used a piece of paper :p to keep it on the middle and it worked for about 6 months. When the problem started again I just bought a new one.


hmmm thats interesting i might try it, why didnt u just try doing it again after?


I did, but the second time I did it, it just lasted for about 6 days. So, I thought the next time it was going to last even less and gave up.

My5 years Sixaxis works perfectly. Is the Dualshock the one that stopped working after less than 2 years.


so wait there is a difference between sixaxis and dualshock?

Dualshock has vibration. It also weights more. Sixaxis doesn't has vibration. I think maybe the vibration causes certain part to get loose after certain use.

But, he doesn't know wtf he's talking about.................  Keep in mind, this will happen to every PS3 controller, because they all have the foam peice.  Give it time.
