| Jumpin said: I think Americans don't actually realize that they have rude or arrogant manners, rude ways of talking to others, eating sloppily and excessively. Stuff like that, and throwing trash on the ground is normal in American culture and not meant by them to disgust or insult the others forced to watch, and not meant to be insulting or arrogant. There are a lot of Americans who believe that the US is the best country in the world, with all its poverty, corruption, and social inequality. A lot of this is due to the fact that they have not traveled to other countries, and they live under a regime of heavy nationalistic propaganda; and their arrogance stems from that. It is similar to how many European countries used to be in the age of empires. |
I worked at a theme park for years... if you think throwing trash on the ground and being rude to people is just an American habit, then you are very, very, wrong. Atleast most of the American guests didn't pitch a fit if I asked them to stop smoking in a non-designated area.
