Nintendo saved the video-game industry in the 80's when Atari died and the Arcade business crashed.  When you look back and really count up the innovations they've given to the gaming world throughout the last 35 years with all of their machines and franchises, it's hard to see another company matching their legacy.

No other gaming company comes close when it comes to the legacy, the contributions, the total astounding achievements - as Nintendo.

If you grew up with Nintendo in the 80's and have watched their story from then on, you'd probably give it up to them.  If you came into gaming just in the last 10-15 years, you'll probably think it's debatable.

i'm an 80's baby, and according to wikki i was 2 when ninty saved the industry in 1986. yep 26 yr's of ninty.

yep i have fond memories of not beating supermario bro's on the NES.

i see we have some fundamental differences on ninty and greatest games company ever. you'll have to forgive me for waiting for something bigger. i'm not easily impressed.

sadly thier innovations stopped after the N64.
