They won't be able to ride MH3U in Japan for long, HD version of Monster Hunter actually don't really sell, especially since this is a version of the game that most have played either on the Wii or the 3DS by now.
Nintendo is in the same launch window lull they said they learned their lesson from with the 3DS. They need to have Pikmin 3 or Wonderful 101 drop within the next 3 months but that is unlikely at this point. Given the fact that the PS3 isn't even that strong in Japan, Nintendo has a shot, especially if they can catch fire with a popular game.
