Because Resistance, with each new game, sold worse and worse until, finally, the franchise ended up with Burning Skies. Ratchet and Clank isn't doing much better, but they're still reasonably consistent and probably far less costly to make. Simply put, it's what happens when a series starts running its course and should be finished.
Insomniac needs to find their new, big idea and work with it.
