Those are great launch numbers. There may be a 10% margin of error but nonetheless, great sales for a just released console. Nintendo has smartly learned from the 3DS fiasco. Nintendo is holding much of its cards close to their chest as stated by Iwata during the Investor's conference meeting in Q1. Regardless, I may be over-thinking it, but I feel as though the announcement of Pokemon coming up soon is no coincidence. It will most likely be a new 3DS generation with a Wii U game that compliments it much like Monster Hunter 3G.

And the argument from people that Wii U is not 'next-gen' is simply baffling. Furthermore, Nintendo has smartly positioned itself away from their competitors. Microsoft and PS4 will most likely follow the same route as they usually due - power. To this day, developers are struggling with costs with current gen and the investment return is slim already. Imagine developing for the Next Xbox and PS4, it will simply not be a sustainable business model.

I think Nintendo will be the dominant player in this next-gen ecosystem.
