Too early to tell who is doomed, but Wii U wont be it. The hardware is custom made for the needs of the Japanese market, wich means that just like the 3DS it will see alot of support from that area.
Its also in a very favorable position in relation to its competitors, already with a lead of 2.5 millions, i believe.
I think it will all be played at E3 when comparing the new Wii U games to the game the PS4 and X720 will run. If theres a really noticeable difference, the Wii U might be in for a struggle. If they look similar, the Wii U has a good chance to dominate the market due to the headstart. Too early to tell, but certainly not doomed at all.
Also, the Nintendo cycle seems to be a reality.
