Think of it like being left handed. It shows up everywhere in nature, cross cultures, etc. Christians used to hate left handedness too. One of my friend was beaten by her teacher in elemetry school because 'the left hand is where the Devil lives!' Now she is messed up in a few ways because of her handedness issues.
Fortunately, at least in the states, most peole who call themselves Christians are embracing gay people and their relationships. Just like realizing slavery is wrong, they are slowly evolving. Many of the leaders of recognizing Same Sex Marriage are devoulty Christian.
