another thing that gets overlooked are all those Ps3's bought as cheap blu-ray players and linux running systems

Thats hardly a viable point now and for the last few years. Bluray players alone are much cheaper so now its safe to assume a PS3 bought for the bluray will buy at least a few games.

its also safe to assume that everyone of those pirated halo's were just a lengthy demo and those people went out and actually bought the game

Now your just being silly :P

Well, forgive me for being confused but I thought this thread was for baseless assumptions after making an observation of some sorts

The torrent links and the numbers they came up with are based on something.

As for the ps3 bluray comment, its based on common sense. You can buy a bluray player for under $100 if you know where to look. It just isn't the primary reason to buy a PS3 for the past 2-3 years.

I don't see your point. Whether or not it was bought for a blu-ray device in the last year or two or 6 years ago is meaningless. THose units were still bought for strictly blu-ray.

However, I honestly don't think that ever was an issue. I don't see someone dicking around with a gaming device to just play movies with and I don't see salesmen recommending a ps3 for a blu-ray device. It was just something spewed to make fun of the ps3 over.

As for total SW numbers I will remind you of a few things. A. this is VGC. Don't take those numbers so seriously. B. SW sales werent tracked in Europe for a short time after Ps3 was launched so the 360 would be effected by total SW sales more. And C. Ps3 sells better in territories that VGC has no possible way of tracking so Ps3 would suffer more from that.
