Who's More popular? Pikachu or Sonic?

I don't know. Games like assassin's creed and call of duty are certainly much more popular than sonic ever was, but I would venture to guess most players don't really know the characters. Assassin's creed has an advantage because there aren't too many assassin games out there while there are a ton of military shooters. But I've played assassin's creed I and II and if you show me a picture of ezio I wouldn't be able to guess if he was ezio, or altair from the first assassin's creed. He simply isn't that good of a mascot. 

Realistic-looking humans as gaming mascots? I don't know, it just seems wrong.

Pikachu over Sonic. But Sonic fans are more devoted. They're like crazy cult fanatics.
