If you look at the history of Nintendo and their consoles, you see that they tend to release new consoles that lag behind in technology, (..)

This is all I read. Why? The first sentence is already wrong. They launched a system which lagged behind in technology (power-wise at least) only once.

OT (judging from the title): No, not until at least 2017.

NES Versus PC Engine and Sega Master System;, Gameboy Versus PC Express and Atari Jaguar, Gameboy Color versus Neo Geo Pocket Color, Gameboy Advance Versus N-Gage, DS ( all iterations) versus PSP, Wii Versus 360 and Playstation 3, 3DS versus Vita and IOS, and Android Devices, Wii U versus Orbis and Durango.  In all those instances Nintendo had the inferior technology.

The only times they've had comparable or better technology were Super Nintendo ( lacked external CD-Rom Drive), N64 ( lacked CD-Rom Drive)  Gamecube ( lacked DVD).

Blahblahblah. All were in the same ballpark.

Lagging behind =/= slightly less powerfull than their competitor (and ahead of others I might add). Lagging behind happened only once.

The PC Express could play 8 / 16 bit games on the go, the PSP was dramatically more powerful than DS as is the Vita to 3DS, the 360 and PS3 are dramatically more powerful than Wii as most likely will be the next Microsoft and Sony consoles in comparison to Wii U, so it's happened quite a bit more than once.

Yet the NES was more powerful than the 7800 so it seems like it's right in the middle to me. GameBoy was able to run ports of the other handhelds of the time anyway and was also 8-bit. GameBoy Advance blew everyone out of the water. PSP ports were also on DS and that definitely goes for 3DS; for all the supposed power, Vita hasn't shown a lot compared to 3DS.

The only time it was impossible to run same-gen games on a Nintendo system was on the Wii. Thus, this 'lagging behind' happened only one time. The lagging behind is debatable anyway, if anything PS360 were lagging behind in control scheme at the start if last gen. I mean, they were still using 5th gen tech!

When you have more than one console you are bound to have a console that's more powerful than the other. If the NES was lagging in power, does that mean all but the most powerful system are lagging in power? Again, lagging behind =/= slightly less powerful.
