Will Nintendo be Releasing a New Home Console in the Next 2 to 3 Years?

Those are the only two options because the market that Sony and Microsoft own expect MUCH more from them the next generation in terms of specifications, graphics, online and power. At least when you hear the negativity about Wii U being underpowered.

IF they make a console not much powerful than Wii U, then Wii U will get third party ports and get the core-gamers back.

If they release a $399 console that just comes with a basic controller (DS3) you can guarantee it's going to have quite a jump over the wiiu, Nintendo bundling such an expensive controller severely decreases the amount of cost that can be spent on hardware componenets.

Even if it's somehow only a little bit more powerful than the wiiu don't expect nintendo to have the hardcore crowd back. Online services and  hardcore exclusive franchises are very important to gamers too. As of now I still think XBL and PSN are better than the Nintendo Network and you can guarantee they will advance with the introduction of a new console.
