There are two possible ways for Microsoft and Sony next-gen:

1: They will release an ultra powerful console, therefore so expensive no one's gonna buy it, certainly not in these days. Also, powerful consoles demand for beautiful games which are too expensive for most companies nowadays to make a profit on it.

2: They will release a more casual platform with forced casual games and accessories like the Kinect and Move. But casual gamers already lost interest in gaming after the Wii. Also not gonna work for them.

Why are these to only two options? The first option is an extreme, the second is getting there. Why not a moderately powerful console with a focus on hardcore gaming, but tries to cater to the casual audience as well?

Yeah I know, its like if they make one kinda like the Wii U.............O.o

I wouldn't call the Wii U a "moderately powerful" console in 2013. It's marginally more powerful than powerful consoles from 2006. PS4 and 720 being moderately powerful would be significantly more powerful than the Wii U, smaller gap than wii-HD twins, but bigger than ps2-xbox. People define "moderately" and "marginally" in different ways so I'll expand on that if you want.

I still don't get your point with this reply though, it's not like I out-ruled them making a similar console to the Wii U, so why the "O.o"?

I find it funny that people sit and talk about how much more powerful the next gen will be but in reallity it wont be that big.  I mean at most I beleive the difference will be like the difference between the PS2 and the Gamecube. In the end when someone looks at the options that those two companies have for their consoles the obvious route to take is the one everyone chides Nintendo for taking and I find it a little bit ironic.  Also, the Wii U is just a bit more powerful than most people think.  Its going to be a cool console war.  Sorry if my comment came of as deriding or insulting, it wasn't meant in that way.
